Course description
Why study this course?
Professional, communication and presentation skills help to create more employable computer scientists and software engineers.
Working in a team to engineer a software system for a real client will give you experience of what it’s like in industry.
You'll have access to the latest hardware, software and operating systems, plus high-spec graphics computers and a robotics arena in our dedicated computer labs in The Diamond.
Our dedicated student welfare advisor is available to provide support, for example, if you are feeling down, overwhelmed or struggling to adjust to student life.
Computer science with AI is the study of machine intelligence, including bio-inspired algorithms, their relationship to living intelligence and the nature of consciousness itself.
Position yourself at the leading edge of humanity’s exploration of what it means to be alive, and the creation of artificial intelligence.
The first year of this degree gives you a grounding in the fundamentals. In your second year you'll experience the processes of engineering a real software system for a real client in a competitive environment.
The main focus of your final year is a dissertation project, where you’ll enjoy scope for creative and intellectual exploration. Optional modules such as Modelling and Simulation of Natural Systems, Cognitive and Biomimetic Robotics and Bioinspired computing give you the scope to tailor your degree to your interests.
You'll not only graduate with technical skills of a computer scientist, but also a solid team player, effective communicator and system designer.
This course is accredited by the British Computer Society. The courses fully meet the requirements for Chartered Information Technology Professional and partially meet the requirements for Chartered Engineer.
