Students in this major may also be eligible for the SUCCESS program - a National Science Foundation-funded program that offers up to $10,000 in scholarships. Find out more WVU Tech's ABET-accredited Computer Science program teaches students the theory and practice of computing, the tools to design and implement complex software packages and the basics of computer networking and database management. Our up-to-date courses include topics such as programming on new platforms (mobile devices and iPads), computer security and network security. Students can also take courses in specialized areas such as computer animation (image processing and computer graphics), video game development (game development and artificial intelligence) and robotics (artificial intelligence). And now, Computer Science majors can increase their marketable skills with our Cybersecurity Area of Emphasis (AOE).

Computing fundamentals, programming languages and how to put it all together to build something incredible.

    Cryptology

This course is designed to give students a basic introduction, the foundation and developments in the field of cryptology. Mono-alphabetic substitutions, poly-alphabetic substitutions stream ciphers, block ciphers, public key cryptology, and quantum ciphers will be reviewed along with number theory and probability necessary for solving encryptions.

    Artificial Intelligence

This course is all thing AI. Explore a survey of AI techniques; heuristic search; game playing; knowledge representation schemes: logic, semantic net, frames and rule-based; natural language processing; advanced AI techniques/systems: planning, blackboard architecture and neural net model; and AI implementation.

    Game Development
