About

Course Overview

The M.Sc. in Computer Science – Intelligent Systems programme focuses on smart, interactive web applications and systems, which are becoming an integral part of our daily lives at home, in the workplace, and in social interaction. Designing and building these systems requires expertise in artificial intelligence, human language understanding and generation, web systems and applications, data analytics and knowledge engineering. This strand is closely linked to the school’s research groups involved in the ADAPT national research centre for Digital Content Technology.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Applicants must provide the following:

An upper second-class (2.1) Honours degree grade or higher from a reputable university, in Computing or related discipline.

Official transcripts of all years of prior undergraduate third-level education.
Proven programming competence.

Candidates may be required to complete a programming test in C, C++ or Java before being offered a place on the course. Some modules may also require programming in Python and other languages.

A strong work ethic and the resolve to engage with a demanding but rewarding programme.

English Language Requirements

All applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide a certificate of proficiency in the English language. For this course, applicants are required to meet the Band B (Standard Entry) level as defined in the English Language Requirements page here.

Applications missing an English certificate may be rejected or experience delays in processing.

English Program Requirements

Applicants for the Trinity International Foundation Programme require IELTS 5.0 overall, with 5.0 in Writing and no band below 4.5.

Applicants for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes must present one of the following English language qualifications.

In cases where the coefficient is less than 5, a minimum result of 14 will be required.
5	International Baccalaureate	English A1, A2 or B: 5 at Higher Level (4 at Standard Level if presenting IB through English)
6	US High School Curriculum	A grade C in English taken in final year
7	TOEFL	Paper based 570 (with a TWE score of 4.5) / Computer based 233 (with a score of 4.5 in essay) / Internet based 90 (with a written score of 21) PG: 88 internet-based, 570 paper-based, 230 computer-based
8	University of Cambridge	180+ on Cambridge English scale with no less than 175 in each skill and use of English i.e., Proficiency Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2), Advanced Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2) PG: Proficiency Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2) Advanced Certificate, Grade C or better (CEFR Level C1 or C2)
