Controlling blood pressure through the nervous system

    About

    Summary

Our lab has been investigating how the nervous system controls the cardiovascular system for many years. We have recently conducted mRNAseq of select CNS regions and cell types and identified several extremely promising new targets for further investigations. This project will investigate the functions of these new targets in neuronal circuits underlying control of the cardiovascular system. Techniques can be tailored to a candidate's skills and experience and can include use of transgenic mouse models, viral vector mediated neuronal tracing, patch clamping, optogenetics, 2-photon neuronal activity imaging and immunofluorescence.
