    Unleash your creativity by joining this highly creative and exciting specialist 2 year Level 5 program! From ringtones, to full scale soundscapes and soundtracks this course will enable you to find a place for your passion in computer-based sound making and electronic based sound arts. Digital sound composition is a growing industry generating many professional opportunities in gaming, film, web, VR, AR and radio platforms. It is also increasingly applied to art and the creation of immersive experiences for varied audiences and commercial purposes. Learn how to make in depth explorations, how to make meaning and generate atmosphere and immersion through digital sound by applying up to date sound and light techniques, current audio technologies and develop an ear for what works in context. This course will offer you a place to develop and begin mapping a career in the media or art industries as a specialist in sound composition and audio manipulation. You will learn how to meet the demands of challenging commercial briefs and develop the skills to make your work standout. Our group sizes are small and our close knit team of specialist staff will coach and guide you to find your voice, develop a strong and unique body of work and position your in an increasingly exciting industry. During the course you will deepen your analytical thinking and develop your ability to plan, create and successfully manage projects in sound composition. You will also develop the strong collaborative working, problem solving and communication skills that you will need to succeed. Our high quality professional coaching and 1 to 1 support will help focus your energies to effectively manage projects involving research and development of ideas, learning about audiences and dissemination channels, wjilst making full use of current technologies to make the most of your vision and talents. Find your voice and deepen your awareness of digital audio composition applying this to varied contexts and embracing the many opportunities that our highly digitised culture can provide. Students will be invited to engage with networks and competitions as part of the programme. There will be opportunities to develop and enhance your professional resume. Form part of a dynamic, supportive and collaborative creative community of like minded people at the Chelsea Centre for Creative Industries. In your second year you will extend your portfolio work to include more large scale projects involving collaboration with others and helping you to find your place in the industry.

    UCAS Tariff - 48 points
    48 UCAS points equivalent: - Access to Higher Education Diploma - A levels - BTEC at level 3 With GCSE English grade 4 or C minimum. Desirable GCSE Maths.


    English Program Requirements

    IELTS (Academic): 5.5
    Students and prospective students require a minimum level of 5.5 IELTS (or equivalent) with no score lower than a 5 in listening and speaking and no score lower than a 5.5 in reading and writing.

    Pearson Test of English Academic

    Students undertaking higher level education need to have a commensurate level of understanding of the English language so as to be able to achieve their qualification. In the case of applicants for whom English is a second language, the interviewer and Central Admissions Team must assure themselves of the applicant’s ability to function at IELTS English Level 5.5 (or equivalent). This is in line with the requirements of the awarding and validating bodies. Where applicants do not hold an IELTS qualification at 5.5 or equivalent, the Central Admissions will ask the applicant to sit an online test (BKSB) to check the suitability of the applicant’s English level prior to interview. Photographic identification will be required. Applicants who have recently completed (i.e. in the last 2 years) a formal programme of study in English at an appropriate level (such as a level 3 BTEC or ‘A’ level) prior to starting their Higher National are considered to be at a suitable level of English without requiring additional evidence..
