    Overview The importance of critical languages in the contemporary and future world economies and the international sphere cannot be emphasized enough. Critical languages are important in fields as diverse as intercultural communication, international law and commerce, international relations, and the internationalization of the Internet.The Critical Languages and International Studies degree at University of Texas Arlington offers a major with specializations in four language options: Chinese, German, Korean, or Russian, as well as minors in those four languages and in Arabic.The goal of language study is to develop deep translingual and transcultural competence. In view of these aims, MODL provides a full range of language offerings from beginning to advanced courses in a variety of world languages.     • 1 : New prospective students who wish to enroll at The University of Texas at Arlington must apply for admission. They should apply as early as possible.
