    About

    Culture informs everything we do, but we don't always pay enough attention to it. The courses in this specialization draw on everything from Marxism to psychoanalysis to literary theory in order to help you think systematically about the complicated relationship between culture and the different parts of our lives " politics, psychology, art, the media, gender and sexuality, the body, globalization, technology, ethics, and more.

    Students who have fulfilled the requirements for a single- or joint-major degree in Cultural Studies may graduate with a Specialization if they have successfully completed 4.0 CUST credits in the chosen Specialization category. The same course may not simultaneously count toward two or more Specializations.

    Engage in workshops and classes that will challenge you to become both a consumer and critic of culture, gaining an understanding of how culture is formed and the impact it has on people's lives.
    • Make contributions to the community while gaining hands-on research experience through a Community-Based Research Project.
    • Work one-on-one with your professor by taking a reading course.
    • Get an in-depth, practical understanding of topics including Performance & Protest and Adaptation & Performance through workshops led by practicing artists.
    • Get real world work experience through a fourth-year internship.

    Access Codes:

    If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, guidance counsellors will provide you with access codes (school number, student number, temporary PIN) to access the OUAC site and application process.

    All other applicants will create user profiles on the OUAC site and will not require access codes.
