    Dietetics

    About

The innovative integrated Master of Dietetics course at Robert Gordon University will develop your research, leadership and service evaluation skills to take you confidently into the changing healthcare landscape.

You will become a clinically adept dietitian with skills underpinned by a thorough theoretical knowledge and understanding of nutritional science, dietetics, public health and health promotion.

As a Dietitian you will be a registered health professional who uses knowledge about food, science and the human body in health and disease to educate and give practical advice to patients, colleagues, clients, carers and the general public.

You will develop skills to empower individuals, groups and communities to change diet and lifestyle behaviours, and will practice your skills through simulated and inter-professional learning opportunities.

This is a 4 year Masters in Dietetics in the UK, where you’ll cover a range of topics from theory through to practice. Learn more about the modules on offer.

    Year 1

CertHE Life Sciences: Your personal and professional development PPD commences from the outset of the course within an interprofessional learning (IPL) module, which is this then contextualised to Dietetic practice. You’ll study theory that underpins nutrition and the practice of dietetics, and develop professional skills, attitudes and ethics within the context of a variety of learning experiences.

    Year 2

DipHE Nutrition and Health Studies: You’ll assume greater responsibility for your own learning; facilitated by greater use of student-led seminars and workshops. Shared IPL learning outcomes support the provision of opportunities for formative shared student learning experiences. Teaching emphasises application of theory, development of evidenced-based practice and reasoning skills in relation to professional practice and contemporary settings.

    Year 3

BSc Nutrition and Health Studies: You’ll continue to assume responsibility for your learning with greater emphasis on self-directed learning and teamwork. There is increasing focus on the development of self-management, clinical reasoning, teamwork, entrepreneurship, critical reading and the development of research skills in Dietetics. You’ll apply cognitive and evaluative skills to the appraisal of current practice within your IPL-facilitated placement.

    Year 4

Master of Dietetics:You’ll focus on the development of enhanced professional and transferable knowledge and skills to support future professional practice and employability. You’ll work with IPL opportunities to develop interdisciplinary team-working, communication skills, leadership, service improvement, project management and research skills applicable to evidenced based professional practice.
