    Overview

    Whether it’s Big Data, the Internet of Things or Virtual Reality, the world of business is being transformed by digital technology. It’s an exciting time of rapid change that is creating wonderful new opportunities. This four-year course is the first of its kind in Ireland and aims to give you the skills to succeed in a future world of work that is driven by technology.

    Be Future Ready
    On this course you will take on real world challenges, get industry experience in a digitally-focused workplace, and reimagine new ways of doing business. Things are changing fast, but by learning vital transferable skills such as innovation, problem solving, leadership and personal agility, you can be part of the digital transformation. In fact, this programme aims to prepare you for jobs that may not yet exist.

    Designed in cooperation with industry, this course will help future proof you with an innovation mindset and industry-relevant knowledge and skills in emerging technologies including: Cloud Computing; Social Media; Big Data Analytics; Mobile Technologies; The Internet of Things; Smart Contracts and Block chain; and Augmented and Virtual Reality.

    Along with a foundation in business and management, you’ll also gain:

    • an understanding of key enabling technologies and their business, economic, and social impacts
    • practical knowledge and experience in applying digital technologies in a range of contexts to achieve business objectives and address societal challenges
    • an innovation mind set providing insights into how to create value through leveraging digital technologies
    • the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to support digitalisation and digital transformation initiatives
    • a capacity to explore, understand, develop and enhance the basis of personal achievement.

    The BSc in Digital Business and Innovation will give you the opportunity to learn about and through technology. You'll have regular opportunities to apply your digital knowledge and skills in projects with real-world clients, including a full-year immersion experience through INTRA work placement in Year 3.

    No Entry path

    International candidates are expected to have educational qualifications of a standard equivalent to those outlined above. In addition, where such candidates are non-native speakers of the English language they must satisfy the university of their competency in the English language.     Undergraduate Applicants - Minimum English Standards

    Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of equivalent competence in English Language, through their school leaving examination or in a recognised English language test. The minimum standards for entry to DCU are outlined below.

    1. Your English language certificate must be awarded within the two years prior to the start date of your DCU programme.

    Alternative Requirements/Evidence of Competency

    In exceptional circumstances, results in examinations other than those published may be accepted as proof of competence in English language. This may include non-native speakers of English who have completed their education through the medium of English in a country where English is the official language. Please include the details of any English language examinations and proof of successful completion when applying to DCU.
