Digital Learning Design

The 15 credit hour Digital Learning Design (DLD) Certificate provides a range of highly marketable and transferable skills to be used in any profession involving teaching, training or development of personnel or customers/clients.  Through a combination of hands-on, competency-based coursework and field experience, students will apply learning theory to the design, development, and implementation of digital learning experiences in a range of environments.  In addition, students will develop a digital portfolio of work products they can use to demonstrate creativity and skill mastery to future employers.

The field of learning design is evolving and with it a growing variety of professional fields applying sound learning and design theory using technology.  According to the Institute for the Future's (IFTF) "Future Work Skills 2020" report, key drivers reshaping work include new media literacy, design mindset, virtual collaboration, and novel and adaptive thinking (IFTF, 2011).  All of these skills are developed and supported through the Digital Learning Design certificate.
