    The Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP FNP) is a practice-focused degree that is designed to educate advanced practice nurses to provide direct care to individual patients; manage care for individuals, families, groups and populations; serve as administrators in health care organizations; engage as faculty in nursing programs; develop and implement health policy; and translate research into expert practice.

    The DNP-prepared Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) uses research evidence and clinical expertise to improve individual and community health outcomes. FNPs work collaboratively and independently to provide a patient-centered approach to individuals across the lifespan. They provide education about health promotion and disease prevention, diagnose acute and chronic health conditions, and prescribe medications and other treatments to improve health outcomes. DNP FNPs may serve as primary health care providers, and may manage their own practices.
