Early Childhood Education - BA (Hons)

    About

The BA (Hons) Degree in Early Childhood Education is run at Carshalton College and is validated by the University of Roehampton. Like many degrees, this course is a mixture of College taught elements and research-based learning. The taught components of the programme are designed to run over one year. The course offers a framework providing individuals working in the early years sector with a training programme that will increase their theoretical and statutory knowledge and understanding as well as employability skills. On successful completion of the programme students will have accumulated 360 HE points (240 at level 4 and 5 and 120 at Level 6). This will enable students to apply for Initial Teacher Training or EYTS and many other academic and professional progression routes including Masters level degrees. It is a requirement of the programme that all participants will be working in an early years setting or participate in a meaningful placement of not less than twelve hours per week. A significant proportion of the programme is work-based with students completing modules at work with the support of college staff. This model of full-time learning at work and academic study allows students to remain in employment while completing their qualification. This programme is delivered according to current University of Roehampton regulations for undergraduate degrees. In order to achieve the qualification students must achieve a pass mark (40%) in all elements of the modular assessments.
