Climate change, an increasing human population, habitat loss, pollution and invasive species are fundamentally changing the planet’s ecosystems. Understanding how plants, animals and their habitats interact is essential. By exploring these relationships, we can study and mitigate the impacts of the challenges facing ecosystems across the globe.
On our BSc (Hons) Ecology and Conservation degree you’ll study how these changes are impacting biodiversity. You’ll research the ecology of different habitats and species, and consider the most recent advances in conservation.
At Edge Hill, we pride ourselves on providing hands-on learning opportunities to enhance your knowledge, understanding and skills. In the laboratory, you’ll develop practical skills in animal and plant identification and soil analysis. And you’ll also take part in fully-funded fieldwork. From on-site sessions in our extensive grounds to day trips and longer residential field trips to impressive field sites, you’ll develop your surveying and sampling skills, both on campus and further afield.
By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to start a career in protecting wildlife and the environment – and show others what they can do to protect life on Earth.
