    Economics and International Business Co-Major

    About

Economics is the study of resource allocation by individuals, business enterprises, and nations.  A social science, it forms the foundation for understanding various business disciplines, combining analytical, empirical, and historical methods to reveal how an economy functions.

A critical feature of modern economics is the growing number of companies that transact business through international channels.  The Economics and International Business co-major at UGA provides opportunities for students to learn about these international business processes and economic institutions.  Coursework topics include business environments, strategic management, international immersion, international finance, information technology, and foreign language.  All students must satisfy an international immersion requirement such as a study abroad program, an internship in International Business, or additional foreign languages.  (Refer to the Pre-Business major for information on applying.)

The degree provides valuable preparation for careers in corporate, governmental, and consulting positions within the United States and internationally.  Students have found jobs as international marketing specialists, consultants, foreign exchange operations analysts, business managers, and project coordinators in public administration, international business, and financial analysis fields.  Other students have chosen to pursue law school or complete an M.B.A.

    How to Apply

UGA supports two different application platforms for First-Year applications. Students should only submit one of these applications. We do not prefer any particular application platform, so please select the option that works best for you and your school counselor. While we are still members of the Coalition for College, we will not be accepting applications on that platform for students applying for Fall 2023.
