    About

Gain expertise in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages by studying at our world-ranked Faculty of Education and Social Work.

Practical experience is integral to this programme. You will take part in two supervised practical experiences where you will observe TESOL teaching in a range of settings in Auckland, one of the most diverse cities in the world.

You will gain a useful foundation in subjects that inform TESOL education, such as psychology, philosophy, sociology and history. You will develop up-to-the-minute knowledge and skills in learning, teaching and assessment.

This programme will be useful for education leaders and policymakers as well as TESOL teachers.

View the BEd (TESOL) brochure or email us for more information.

Turn your passion for English into language-teaching skills so that your students can participate as global citizens.

This three-year programme comprises 360 points of coursework, 120 points per year. You'll gain a solid grounding in planning and teaching TESOL classes through courses in: pedagogy, teaching and assessment; understanding learners and learning; and the theory and practice of education.

Most students need to take one or two General Education courses.

Students should also be aware of the University's Academic English Language Requirement.

For all official programme information, including regulations about entry, enrolment, fees, examinations, and requirements for degrees, diplomas and certificates, see the University Calendar.
