    Overview UTSA’s Interdisciplinary Studies ProgramThroughout the Education (Interdisciplinary Studies) program of The University of Texas at San Antonio, you’ll explore how different disciplines approach inquiry, examine multiple styles of learning, and incorporate cultural diversity into your teaching. The knowledge and skills you’ll pick up will enable you to become an effective educator and work with diverse learners across a variety of settings.UTSA is approved by the State Board for Educator Certification to recommend students for teaching certification in various baccalaureate degree areas. You can earn an Interdisciplinary Studies degree with any of the following certification concentrations:Early Childhood–Grade 6 Core SubjectsGrades 4–8 Core SubjectsGrades 4–8 Language Arts/Reading/Social StudiesGrades 4–8 Mathematics/ScienceEarly Childhood–12 Special EducationThese concentrations are declared after you’ve been admitted and have met with your academic advisor. Bilingual Early Childhood–6 and 4–8 are also offered to Interdisciplinary Studies majors through the Department of Bicultural-Bilingual Studies.At UTSA, students who wish to become an elementary school teacher should major in Interdisciplinary Studies.
