Education has a fundamental role to play in personal, social and professional development. Through education you can make a difference in the lives of many learners from different and diverse backgrounds. This degree offers you the opportunity to develop the professional knowledge, skills and understanding required to follow a career in education. You will become aware of the factors affecting learners’ achievement so that you can promote continuous improvement and educational achievement among all students in a wide array of learning institutions. The course will also give you the tools to become a reflective practitioner and an independent, critical problem-solver. Within the course you will explore topical issues relating to education and society; raising achievement through inclusion and look at the underlying principles of the educational system. The course looks at educational issues at various life stages rather than concentrating on a single phase. This will give you the opportunity to become aware of and investigate educational issues of particular personal interest and related to your career aspirations. The courses at University Centre Peterborough are studied in smaller class sizes compared with other universities, a typical class size is under 30 students.
