Dalhousie’s Diploma of Emergency Health Services Management (DEHSM) provides current and future EHS leaders with the range of knowledge and skills required to effectively lead in a variety of Emergency and Disaster contexts.

Designed with working professionals in mind, the diploma can be taken over the course of one year, or through a range of more flexible part-time options.

Program-specific admission requirements

In addition to meeting Dalhousie’s general admission requirements and completing the online undergraduate application form, applicants must provide:

• Official transcripts for previous academic study

• One letter of reference (academic or professional)

• Resume/curriculum vitae

• Mature students: Include a letter indicating your activities since leaving high school and how you plan to successfully complete the Diploma in Emergency Health Services Management if you are admitted.

• International students: If your first language is not English, you must provide proof that you meet Dalhousie’s English Language requirements.

The DEHSM was designed by EHS professionals and is geared towards developing the essential management skills to required to work in this field or to advance in your EHS career.

The diploma provides an excellent foundation for those students interested in the Master of Health Administration program, which prepares students with the administrative skills and academic knowledge to assume leadership roles in either the private or public healthcare sectors.
