About

The Masters degree programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology prepares students for independent work in research and production. It also qualifies graduates to take on managerial functions in various company departments. Students expand on their knowledge in power engineering, automation technology, microelectronics, communications engineering and computer engineering, and have the opportunity to specialise. The knowledge gained is additionally implemented in practice-related laboratory practicals.

Electrical engineering students should possess strong powers of imagination and abstraction. It is also important that they have a technical flair, an interest in mathematics and a logical way of thinking. Good foreign language skills are very important for entering the job market. For this reason, English language skills are recommended.

For master's degree programmes with unrestricted admission, all applicants who fulfil the admission requirements will be admitted a university place. The exact admission requirements can be found in the admission regulations:

They often start their careers in R&D, and increasingly take on management tasks at a later stage. For this reason, the degree programme prepares students for independent work in research and production. The Masters degree enables graduates to start on the career ladder with a company at a higher level.

How to Apply

You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
