    New Zealand is recognised as a global leader in innovative project management approaches, delivering world-class projects across all engineering disciplines. Develop your skills and credentials as a professional project manager, able to lead and direct multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

    This programme provides students with the in-depth knowledge and skills needed to succeed in project management in a variety of industries. Focusing on two key project management practices, Waterfall and Agile, this programme enables students to work towards industry-recognised professional certification.

    Students will gain sound fundamentals in project management concepts and application, whilst completing a spectrum of elective courses that broaden acquisition of knowledge and skills within the engineering project management specialisation.

    A project towards the end of your programme enables you to apply your theoretical skills to real-world industry projects, and consolidates your learning.

    Relevant disciplines such as, applied science, architecture, commerce, construction, engineering, information technology, science or technology may be considered relevant.

    You must have completed one of the following:

    • a relevant bachelors degree with a GPA of 4.0 in 60 points about Stage II.
    • a relevant bachelors degree and passed 60 points towards a relevant postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma or graduate diploma with a GPA of 4.0.

    Relevant disciplines such as, applied science, architecture, commerce, construction, engineering, information technology, science or technology may be considered relevant.

    Select your study option:

    You must have completed a four-year bachelors degree in engineering at a recognised university (or similar institution) that includes:

    • Broad coverage in your first year of the foundational science topics that underpin engineering disciplines: mathematical modelling, chemical and materials science, electrical engineering theory, mechanics, programming, and engineering design
    • One year of postgraduate-level study
    • A research project or dissertation comprising at least one-quarter of the final year

    You will need a GPA of 4.0.

    Alternatively, you must have completed one year of postgraduate study, following an undergraduate degree, in a relevant discipline at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPA of 4.0.

    Relevant disciplines include applied science, architecture, commerce, construction, information technology, science and technology.

    You will also need at least two years' professional engineering experience.

    You must have completed an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline at a recognised university (or similar institution) with a GPE of 4.0.

    Relevant disciplines include applied science, architecture, commerce, construction, engineering, information technology, science and technology.

    You will also need at least two years' professional engineering experience.

    Other pathways to study

    In some circumstances, we will consider you for entry if you have not completed a relevant bachelors degree but have a GPE of at least 4.0 and two year’s work experience in engineering.

    In exceptional circumstances, we will consider you for entry if you have not completed a bachelors degree, but have attained extensive practical, professional, or scholarly experience in the engineering profession deemed equivalent to the entry requirements. An interview may be required.

    You will gain competencies in all aspects of portfolio, programme and project management, and will be familiar with a broad range of tools, techniques and methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall. Our graduates will have the skills needed to succeed as a project manager in the engineering sector.
