English: Drama and Theatre

McGill offers a unique English program with courses covering three closely linked subjects: English literature, drama, and cultural studies. This program allows you to explore all three subjects broadly while specializing in one area.

The Drama and Theatre option introduces students to dramatic literature and includes courses on the basic elements of theatrical performance. This option looks at drama and theatre in a broad social and philosophical context.

This program will let you explore the subject broadly as a liberal arts discipline, rather than providing professional training in acting.

Accepted international credentials

Applicants are reviewed on their high school transcript with particular emphasis on yearly averages and results in prerequisite subjects (prerequisite subjects must have been completed during the last two years of high school).

Bologna-signatory countries

A background in Drama and Theatre will strengthen your critical and analytical skills, and will give you plenty of experience in writing and research. You can continue onto graduate studies or a career in many different fields like media criticism, journalism, writing, and community work.
