    When you study English Literature at Trent you are able to pursue your passions through poetry, prose, plays and other texts. Whether you are enthusiastic about novels or enjoy the succinctness of critical writing, in English at Trent you can explore the lasting impact of how we write and share stories of the human experience. Explore the written word across time periods ranging from medieval romance to the Harlem renaissance to contemporary graphic fiction.

    Earn your Master's degree in English (Public Texts) within one year of graduating with your honours B.A.

    In English at Trent you'll discover a variety of voices across centuries, genres and cultures as you explore offerings in historical periods; creative writing; feminism, race and social justice; national, transnational and global literatures; and more!
    • Explore your strengths and career interests, and graduate with 12 months of work experience (and income) through the new four-year B.A. co-op stream, giving you the competitive edge for future job prospects.
    • Take your love of books global and travel to a globally-known literary heritage site - from the fjords of Norway to the paths of pilgrims in the Canterbury Tales - by competing for the Barbara Rooke Travel Prize
    • Gain the skills you need to become a published author contributing to Chickenscratch, an annual anthology of creative writing that puts students in the editorial seat

    This unit group includes specialists in advertising, marketing and public relations who analyse, develop and implement communication and promotion strategies and information programs, analyse advertising needs and develop appropriate advertising and marketing plans, publicize activities and events, and maintain media relations on behalf of businesses, governments and other organizations, and for performers, athletes, writers and other talented individuals. They are employed by consulting firms, advertising agencies, corporations, associations, government, social agencies, museums, galleries, public interest groups, and cultural and other organizations, or they may be self-employed. Agents such as entertainment, literary and sports agents are included in this unit group.

    Access Codes:

    If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, guidance counsellors will provide you with access codes (school number, student number, temporary PIN) to access the OUAC site and application process.

    All other applicants will create user profiles on the OUAC site and will not require access codes.
