English- Writing

Reading the works of accomplished writers, whether Christian or non-Christian; whether from the past or from the present, provides an important perspective of the world we live in. Redeemer's English - Writing program equips students to articulate their unique perspectives and worldview and to write clearly and persuasively through a wide range of writing genres. Through a maturing of comprehension and communication skills, learn to critique the work of others, as well as your own, to help give a strong voice to your ideas and stories and to use your passion for writing to make a difference in the world.

English - Writing is a Bachelor of Arts degree within the English Department. It is offered as an honours major, a major, and as a minor.

The Applied Social Sciences program does not have program-specific admission requirements.

Applicants from Ontario will be considered for general undergraduate admission based on the following requirements:

• Successfulcompletion ofGrade 12U English
• Five additional Grade 12 U or M level courses
• Minimum grade average of 65%
• No O-level courses or Co-op courses used

Admission Requirements

Applicants from countries other than Canada and the United States will be considered for admission based on the following requirements:

• High school diploma (or equivalent); minimum average of 65%
  • Alongside your transcript, we may also require any secondary school certification/examination results (e.g. CAPRE, WAEC, WASSCE, CXC, HKDSE, etc.). Notarized transcripts may be used in some cases.
• Required documents, where applicable:
  • From an American-based School: minimum CLT score of 58, ACT score of 19 or SAT score of 980 (if you took the old SAT test, minimum score of 940 (CR+M) is required).
    Redeemer is approved to administer the CLT exam to students. Redeemer is also approved to administer ACT tests if the student is applying to Redeemer.  We cannot provide ACT tests to other individuals.  For more information about writing an ACT test or CLT exam at Redeemer, contact reg@redeemer.ca.
  • From an International Baccalaureate (IB) School: minimum total score of 28 points in at least 6 subject areas.
  • From a school in the British system: General Certificate of Education (GCE) of good standing in 5 subject areas, 2 of which must be at the A-level

• Attended a secondary school (academic studies) in an English speaking country full-time for at least three years.
• Attended an accredited English medium university in full-time academic studies for at least one year.
• Resided in an English speaking country for at least four years immediately prior to applying to Redeemer.

1. Apply online!
   Start and submit your application online! It’s $120 CAD to apply.
   Please note: In most cases, international applicants will only be considered for fall term admission. To be considered for winter term admission, you may appeal this requirement with your admissions counsellor.
2. Send in your transcripts
   Request and submit up-to-date and official transcripts from your high school(s). Transcripts need to come to us directly from the guidance office (whether it be a hard copy by mail or a photocopy by email). Transcripts must be presented in English, either translated directly by the school, through a notary or through WES translation services. To be eligible for transfer credit, international transcripts (outside Canada/USA) must be sent through a WES course-by-course evaluation.
