The Master’s degree programme in Entrepreneurship and SME Management is a consecutive full-time study programme.
In Germany, 99% of all companies are small to medium-sized enterprises. Nationwide, they employ nearly two-thirds of all employees and more than 80% of all trainees, and they create approx. 50% of Germany’s gross domestic product (GDP). In order to remain successful in increasingly complex business environments, small and medium-sized enterprises require outstandingly trained graduates who can cover complex business administration tasks while cooperating across multiple disciplines, e.g., with technically trained employees. At the same time, the German economy is in need of entrepreneurially trained graduates who will be able to either become future entrepreneurs by founding their own companies or continuing to manage existing ones.
The Master’s degree programme in Entrepreneurship and SME Management is therefore targeted at students looking for well-founded scientific training as well as knowledge of methods and facts, enabling them to successfully work in small and medium-sized businesses. This programme reacts to the changed requirements of the labour market by teaching the following knowledge and skills:
Methodical basic knowledge and supplementary knowledge for management of small and medium-sized enterprises – elements, principles and complements of SME management
Knowledge of the different life cycle phases of companies – SME lifecycle (corporate founding, corporate development, corporate growth and corporate succession)
Reinforcing insights into management of small and medium-sized enterprises – SME management
Knowledge of freely selectable contents for individual specialisation (elective courses)
Skills for independent, methodical and scientific work on a chosen, current subject with reference to small and medium-sized enterprises
Skills for project-related tasks of SME management
Skills for creation of a Master’s thesis that leads to completion of the Master’s degree programme
