    About

The Environmental Ethics Certificate program (EECP) at the University of Georgia is a non-degree program that unites scientists, philosophers, the community, students, and faculty from multiple disciplines in discussion and decision-making about environmental stewardship and problems – problems which often have competing values.

A forum for discussion of social and scientific responsibilities toward the environment in a rational and interdisciplinary manner, the certificate is awarded to undergraduate students who successfully complete at least 18 hours of undergraduate course work, including at least 7 credit hours in core courses (one 3 or 4–hour course in Ecology, one 3–hour course in Ethics, and one 1–hour course in Environmental Ethics), 7 or 8 hours in approved elective courses, and 3 hours for an approved research paper in Environmental Ethics.

EECP seminars, Philosopher's Walks, and occasional conferences are also made available.

    How to Apply

UGA supports two different application platforms for First-Year applications. Students should only submit one of these applications. We do not prefer any particular application platform, so please select the option that works best for you and your school counselor. While we are still members of the Coalition for College, we will not be accepting applications on that platform for students applying for Fall 2023.
