    About

    Having opted for one major, students may still take optional modules from the other area of specialisation; in the Major Territorial Development”, the primary language of instruction is English.
    • A basic knowledge of landscape planning and nature conservation (planning tools, methods of landscape analysis and assessment)
    • Urban and regional planning
    • Plant ecology and soil science
    • Enjoyment of fieldwork (mapping, conducting interviews)
    • Scientific work, creativity, a structured and activity-oriented mind-set
    • Ability to work in a team
    • An interest in contemporary challenges (loss of biodiversity, demographic change)
    • Experience in planning offices, nature protection bodies, etc.
    • Basic knowledge of the English language

    An undergraduate degree in a related field of study, such as

    • Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (Bachelor of Science)

    Please note that an application folder must be submitted for the application in addition to the regular application documents. The application folder includes a motivation letter as well as work samples (DIN A4 format).

    Environmental planners are engaged in public authorities, national and international organisations, planning offices and other companies from the private sector. Their main tasks include landscape and spatial planning, environmental assessment, habitat and species protection, urban and regional development. Additional fields of work include tourism planning, environmental education and consulting.

    Graduates may embark on doctoral studies.

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
