    About

    The online course lasts one calendar year and is a part-time distance learning course, with six modules per year, each of six weeks duration.

    Preparation for Expeditions

    This module will provide healthcare professionals with the skills, knowledge and methodical approach to prepare and plan a successful and safe expedition in a variety of settings.

    Polar and Mountain Healthcare Considerations

    This module will provide healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to plan and execute a successful and safe expedition in a polar and/or mountain environment.

    Healthcare Application in Ocean, River and Water Settings

    This module will provide healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to plan and execute a successful and safe expedition in an aquatic environment.

    Healthcare in Desert and Tropical Environments

    This module will provide healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to plan and execute a successful and safe expedition in a desert and/or tropical environment.

    Treating Common Medical Problems in an Expedition and Wilderness Setting

    This module will provide healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to anticipate, plan for and treat potential common medical problems which may arise on expeditions and the additional challenges which exist within remote environments.

    Applying Expedition Medicine to Natural Disaster and Relief Management

    This module will provide healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge to be able to transfer knowledge learnt within expedition and wilderness medicine to a natural disaster situation, providing safe medical care within a variety of environments.

    Academic Qualifications

    • Students who have completed a 4 year Bachelor degree (60% overall or a GPA of 2.5 or above on the scale of 4, 4 being the highest) can be considered for entry onto a relevant postgraduate programme of study.
    • Applicants with other relevant qualifications or work experience may be considered on a case by case basis.

    English Program Requirements

    English language requirements

    International applicants will need to have achieved an overall of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component/TOEFL 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing or equivalent.
