About
Why this course?
Cranfield Defence and Security has a long history of providing expertise and teaching to UK MOD and allied countries, underpinning defence and security development around the world. The Expeditionary Warfare Systems Technology and Engineering aims to introduce underpinning technologies and their application in defence systems, as required by the engineers and scientists from the US DoD and industry partners working in the design, development, prototyping, test, evaluation, acquisition and maintenance of Expeditionary Warfare systems.
The MSc provides graduates with the technical qualities, transferable skills and independent learning ability necessary to make them effective in organisations that design, develop, procure, or operate military expeditionary systems. The graduates will be equipped with skills knowledge, which will help them move across the organisation both horizontally and vertically.
This programme will provide the following skills:
- Cement and consolidate industrial experience with the relevant technical background to enable decision making.
- Expand and enhance knowledge of the subjects taught to apply this within your current role.
- Develop and enhance analysis of systems in their current roles.
- Blend industry standards with modern, novel and cutting edge techniques.
- Multidisciplinary knowledge in expeditionary warfare enables improved communication between experts in different fields, and enable the employee to take up managerial responsibilities over teams of staff in these areas.
- Education gained from the program develops knowledge to enable the employee to be a smart customer.
- Knowledge gained from this programme gives attendees the capability to work between Naval and Army Command.
Requirements
Entry Requirements
Our general entry requirement is a UK Honours degree (minimum second class lower) or international equivalent. Our Admissions Office staff have extensive knowledge of a wide range of qualifications from all over the world and will assess your qualifications against our UK entry requirements. English Program Requirements
To study for a formal award at Cranfield you will need to demonstrate that you can communicate effectively in English in an academic environment. You can meet this requirement in the following ways:
- If you have previously obtained a higher education level qualification from a UK university and have been taught and assessed in English (note that international applicants applying for Master’s courses in Cranfield’s School of Management are required to have studied in the UK for the full duration of the course).
- If you are a national of or have a obtained a higher education level qualification from a country on the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) list of majority English speaking countries:

Your career
Successful graduates of this course should be fully equipped for roles in defence intelligence, systems development and acquisition, involving the specification and analysis of such systems, working individually or as part of a team either in the military or in the defence industry.
