For students who are exploring different majors it is strongly encouraged that they chose a Meta-Major for their course of study. This will be selected by the student at the time of application. This Meta-Major will be utilized by the student's advisor to enroll them through Advanced Registration and in consultation with their advisor (s) for future term. It will focus student's enrollment around degree applicable courses for the focus areas.

Purpose
The purpose of Meta-Majors is to assist students who are exploring their academic path through a collaborative student-center approach. The Exploratory and Pre-Professional Advising Center engages students in the process of exploring and defining their academic and career goals and creates effective strategies to achieve these goals. Students are encouraged to participate in ExplorationFIT or take ACE 100– Academic and Career Exploration (1 unit) in the fall semester of their first-year to jumpstart their decision on a major.
Arts, Humanities, Communications, and Media Meta-Major
The Arts, Humanities, Communications, and Media Meta-Major is designed for students who are considering academic studies in the areas of Arts, Humanities, Communications, and Media. There is a wide range of courses in this Meta-Major to give students a broad understanding of courses in the following areas: Art, Art History, Anthropology, Journalism, Graphic Design, Music, and Musical Theater. The majors connected to this course work could lead to careers in the following fields: Counselors, Museum Curators, Journalist, Archeologist, and Graphic Designer.
Declaration of Major Policy
Exploratory students must declare a major before or upon completion of 45 credits as per the Declaration of the Major Requirement policy specified in this catalog.
