    About

    Fashion Buying and Merchandising requires strong commercial and analytical foundations as the roles are key to the success of any fashion business. This course is designed to provide students with an appreciation of the fashion drivers needed to become a buyer and merchandiser in this complex, challenging retail world.

    The BSc (Hons) Fashion Buying and Merchandising course provides students with a thorough understanding of all aspects of the global circular supply chain. This includes digital innovations, digital assets and virtual fashion, which are all key aspects of the future of the fashion industry.

    Course information

    On this course, you will develop your understanding of the strategic communications and decisions involved in the development of product, specific to the role of the Buyer and the Merchandiser and the wider business environment. You will gain knowledge of financial, commercial and creative IT systems, in order to increase the efficiency of the product lifecycle management.

    You will gain a broad perspective of the challenges and rewards of building profitable ranges, whilst developing strong critical and contextual skills within your research. As the industry’s decision makers of the future, you will critically evaluate the wider global issues of the supply chain, ethical trading and sustainability as well as exploring the contemporary issues of ethical sourcing decisions and automation in the manufacturing process.

    Through each year of study, you will explore buying and merchandising from the principles in Year 1, exploring the strategy and innovation in Year 2 and realising your knowledge in your final year with research, a new enterprise or project. You will have the chance to enhance your learning through real-world educational experiences, such as live projects and events.

    UCAS tariff points

    GCE A levels - grades BCC or equivalent

    Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma - grade DMM

    Access to HE Diploma - Pass overall with a minimum 106 UCAS Tariff points

    UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma - grade of Merit overall

    OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - grade DMM

    T level - We welcome applications from students undertaking T level qualifications. Eligible applicants will be asked to achieve a minimum overall grade of Merit as a condition of offer

    IB Diploma - Pass overall with a minimum overall score of 26 or minimum 104 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects

    Other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to GCE A level are also considered.

    A maximum of three A level-equivalent qualifications will be accepted towards meeting the UCAS tariff requirement.

    AS levels, or qualifications equivalent to AS level, are not accepted. The Extended Project qualification (EPQ) may be accepted towards entry, in conjunction with two A-level equivalent qualifications.

    International Baccalaureate points

    IB Diploma with minimum 26 points overall or 104 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects. If you plan to meet the Level 2 course requirements through your IB Diploma you will need to achieve Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 5 in English and Higher Level 4 or Standard Level 4 in Mathematics
