    UWS's BA Filmmaking & Screen Writing will help you develop the essential creative, critical and professional skills required to work in cinema, TV and related industries.

    The practical focus of the degree will help you build up a portfolio of work and provide you with experience of post-production, research, scriptwriting and camera operation.

    Modules are taught by industry professionals and our range of masterclasses are led by internationally- acclaimed directors, cinematographers and writers.

    As well as having access to the latest digital film technology, you’ll also have the opportunity to work out of UWS’s teaching space at Glasgow’s Film City – Scotland’s filmmaking hub.

    Entry Requirements

    Year 1:  Applicants must have completed the Certificate of General Secondary Education plus a relevant Foundation programme or Diploma Year 2:  Community College Diploma

    English Program Requirements

    If you do not fall into any of the categories above you will need to provide proof of your English language ability through the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

    Duo Lingo

    For 2022-23 entry, the University has approved the use of the online Duolingo English test as evidence of English language ability. UWS will accept an overall score between 90-115 with no component score below 90.

    Career

    UWS graduates work as directors, camera operators and editors. Independent productions herald a new era of growth for Scotland, broadening career opportunities. In addition to film and television production, graduates also work in journalism, marketing and management. Further study is possible at MA and PhD level.

    Once your application has been processed, we will contact you by email to confirm the outcome. If successful, you will receive an offer letter which will detail your next steps.

    8. Pay the deposit

    You will be required to pay a deposit to secure your place at the university.

    9: Attend a TEG credibility interview

    The purpose of this interview is to assess if students are credible and genuine. At this stage you will need to prepare your CAS documents for review.

    10. Apply for Visa

    International students, including nationals from EEA or Switzerland, would require a student visa to study at UWS London.
