Our BSc Finance will provide you with a core set of technically demanding, yet applications-oriented, skills in finance and an extensive knowledge of the financial sector. You will acquire the knowledge and skills needed for working in professions requiring economic and financial literacy. You will begin by attaining the IT, professional and quantitative skills required for the degree as well as a career in economics. You will gain knowledge of how financial institutions and markets work in the UK, alongside with introductory accounting and economics.
On this BSc Finance degree, your main focus will be on principles of:
- finance
- corporate finance
- financial markets
You will also study modules in:
- basic microeconomic theory and policy
- financial reporting
- econometrics.
This will equip you with the skills required to read and understand financial journal articles or simple balance sheets. There is also an opportunity to do a dissertation, or take a module from a range of options such as portfolio management and behavioural economics and finance.
If you opt for the Foundation Year route, this will fully prepare you for undergraduate study. It is ideal if you are returning to study after a gap, or if you have not previously studied the relevant subjects, or if you didn't achieve the grades you need for a place on your chosen undergraduate degree.
