About

Are you looking for a finance degree to give you a competitive edge? The BSc Finance degree at Swansea University will do just that. This degree is perfect if you have a dedicated interest in financial fields such as investment banking or financial trading.

By blending theory, empirical evidence, and practical application, you will build essential transferable skills, enabling the analysis and critical evaluation of real-world financial issues and concepts. As a finance specialist, you will play a fundamental role in the running of a business - big or small. Managing budgets and taxes, financial reporting, and completing audits - all are critical in ensuring that a business or organisation runs as effectively and successfully as possible. Our course is accredited by the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA) and holds University Affiliation Program status, which signals to students and employers that our curriculum is closely tied to the practice of investment management and is helpful to students preparing for the CFA^® Program exams.

Entry Requirements

A-level Qualification
Offers for programmes in the School of Management are usually within the range of ‘ABB-BBB’ or equivalent.

All applications are considered on an individual basis, with GCSE grades, AS Level subjects and grades, work experience, references and personal statement taken into account.

Variable offers are made dependent on subjects studied.

No A-level in Business, Economics, Maths or Accounting/Finance is required. Students may combine A-levels with other qualifications below. GCSE Maths and English minimum C grade is also required.

International Baccalaureate
The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) IB of 32-33 or higher.

BTEC (18-unit)
The School of Management will make offers to students with predicted (or achieved) BTEC results of DDM or better.

English Language
Non-native English speakers must achieve 6.0 overall with no component less than 5.5 in IELTS or equivalent tests.

For students who fall short of only the English language requirement we offer a range of pre-sessional training programmes that you may take before starting your degree programme.

International Qualifications

Foundation Year options: BSc Finance with a Foundation Year
