    About

    The course has one clear and focused objective, to prepare students to gain employment in the digital creative industries.This games design course also allows you to dive into both the artistic and creative side of games production as well as thefundamentals of programming.

    As your studies progress, optional modules will allow you to specialise in an area of games development, whether thats advanced 3D modelling or getting to grips with hardcore programming challenges. You will explore games design theory, game play mechanic, narrative and world building, you will consider human computer interaction, user experience, and interface design, while considering usability testing and quality assurance. Everything you learn will feed into the continued production of tangible product in a real-world team-based learning environment.

    In thefinal yearyou will define your ownworkinggroupsto produce a game prototype toanindustry standard, youdecide who towork with, and as a teamyoudefinethegenre, thethemeand scopeof the product you choose to develop. Alongsidetheproduction of your game,greatemphasisis placed ondefining a pathway into employment, apurposelydeveloped module will help you develop your own professionalidentityandcore competencies. A furtherpractice-baseddissertationmodule will help to develop agenuinearea ofexpertise,putting you ahead of thecompetition.

    Entry Requirements

    Applicants who have successfully passed a diploma from a community college, intermediate diploma or associate degree with an overall mark of C+ or better will be considered for undergraduate entry.

    English Program Requirements

    Equivalent qualifications

    English language requirements are shown on individual course pages. Generally, this is shown as an IELTS grade, however we accept a range of equivalent qualifications. 

    As a general guide:

    For undergraduate courses we require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent

    For postgraduate courses, we require IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) or equivalent

    For the International Foundation Year, we require IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum 4.0 in each component) in UKVI IELTS for UKVI (Academic)

    The approved equivalent qualifications list includes the following: 

    Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

    Regional-based qualifications

    Majority English Speaking Countries as deemed by UKVI

    Medium of English Institutions

    Applicants who require a Student Route visa to study in the UK may require evidence of a Secure English Language test rather than an examination or qualification due to visa requirements, as deemed by the UK Government Home Office, Visa and Immigration (UKVI).
