    About

    What makes a city unique? How do human values and relationships shape urban spaces? What challenges do cities currently face? Urban studies brings together fields like geography, architecture, political science and sociology to help us understand how urban areas have developed, how they may change in the future, and how we can solve their most pressing dilemmas.

    This major will expose you to various approaches to Urban Studies. You can take courses in statistics, geography, architecture, civil engineering, political science, urban planning, management, sociology and more. Explore your unique interest across fields in this truly interdisciplinary program.

    You will graduate with the skills and knowledge to help solve complex issues related to housing, transportation, social services and more.

    Applicants are reviewed on their high school transcript with particular emphasis on yearly averages and results in prerequisite subjects (prerequisite subjects must have been completed during the last two years of high school).

    Bologna-signatory countries

    McGill welcomes qualified applicants from throughout Europe, including from schools in Bologna signatory countries. Applicants will be considered for admission into McGill degree programs of similar duration as those at comparable, research-intensive universities in Europe. Accordingly, qualified applicants to the faculties of Arts, Education, and Management at McGill, with a Bologna-compliant diploma that leads to a three-year undergraduate program in Europe, will be admissible to a three-year program at McGill. Students in Management will be required to complete additional mathematics coursework.
