    About

Climate change. Environmental degradation. Biodiversity crisis. Explore the critical global challenges our ever-changing planet faces and unravel the environmental policy solutions for society’s issues today.

Taught by expert leaders in the field, you’ll draw on their range of scientific experiences. Hear firsthand about their research into threats posed by climate change to urban areas, river catchments and coastal environments. And benefit from their connections to the Digital Environment Research Institute too – gathering fresh insights on digital, data science and AI research.

Not only that, but you’ll also develop knowledge to manage the processes that shape our planet. Learn sought-after practical skills in data collection and coding, laboratory analysis, and geospatial software. Then tailor your degree to your interests, with our choice of optional modules including human geography too.

    From local to international impact

Well positioned to witness natural processes in the vibrant urban heart of east London, you’ll focus on how to create change first from within your local area. Before long, you could be exploring locations further afield like sustainable development in Malta, coastal management in Rotterdam or fragile environments in the Scottish Highlands.

Be inspired by our industry speakers such as the Environment Agency, Forestry England and National Trust. And benefit from our specialist facilities including a purpose-built teaching lab, river lab, and research-grade field equipment.

Finish your degree prepared for an exciting range of careers. How do you want to impact the environment? Environmental consultancy, water resource manager, GIS technician, surveying, risk management – the choice is yours.
