    About

    Students embark on the subject in the 1st and 2nd semesters via compulsory modules L1 Introduction to Literary Studies and S1 Introduction to Linguistics. These models provide an overview of the key methods, topics and theories of the relevant subject, and a number of working techniques are acquired. From the 3rd semester, students can take module D1 Introduction to Teaching Methodology, K TE combination module Technical Education and a module from the compulsory elective area. Module D1 consists of an introduction to teaching literature and an introduction to language teaching. These two courses should be taken following the completion of the relevant introductory module. Module K TE involves a specialisation course in the area of literary studies and an advanced course in the thematic area of grammar. This module should also be taken after completing the relevant introductory modules. In the compulsory elective area, students can select a literary studies module (L3-L4) and a linguistics module (S3-S5, S7) from the 3rd semester. The Bachelors thesis is written in the subject area or in the second subject during the 6th semester.     Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are restricted: English Studies (school subject: English), Food Science, German Studies (school subject: German), Politics, Spanish Studies, Sports.

    Some subjects in the Bachelor Teacher Training Course for Technical Education are admission-free: Catholic Religious Education, Chemistry, Colour Technology and Interior Decoration, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Metals Technology, Physics, Plant Operations and Manufacturing of Wood Products, Protestant Religious Education and Site Engineering.

    Application Deadlines

    Application dates for a subject combination with at least one restricted subject:

    First-year students
    (Application for the first semester is only possible for the winter semester)
    • Applicants from Germany and other EU countries: June 1st July 15th of the year
    • Applicants from outside the European Union: April 15th May 31st of the year (application via uni-assist)
    Students resuming their studies and transfer students (application in a higher semester)
    • Everyone: June 1st July 15th of the year for the winter semester
    • Everyone: December 1st - January 15th of the year for the summer semester

    How to Apply

    You can use our online application portal to enrol any time between 1 June and 30 September. To be able to do this, you will need a qualification for admission to higher education. At the end of the online application, you will automatically be forwarded to a cover letter (the so-called application for enrollment). Sign this application for enrollment (handwritten or digital) and put it together with the required documents into one PDF document, which you can then upload using the upload link provided. The required documents include your qualification for admission to higher education (e.g. Abitur) and any other supporting documents such as practical training certificates or evidence of language proficiency. We also need proof of your health insurance and evidence that you have paid the semester fee. At the end of the online application, all required documents are listed and must be uploaded as a scan of the original documents by September 30th, 11:59 p.m. Please do not forget to upload your photo for the LeibnizCard . You can find information on this in the application for enrollment at the end of the online application. In September, you will receive your enrolment documents, an invitation to the welcome event for new students and information about any preparatory courses that may be offered. Please note that some degree programmes offer preparatory courses well before term starts.
