    The BA (Hons) Global Health and Social Science is a unique degree aimed at students committed to social justice and who want to make a difference in the world. Poverty and disease, racism and health inequalities, climate change and pandemics. Ensuring the health and well-being of people across the globe has never been more pressing or challenging. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that social scientific perspectives on health, illness, and medicine are critical to meet these challenges, because ‘health is more than a medical matter. People learn most effectively when studying what they care about. For this reason, the degree offers flexibility to tailor the degree to your own interests and career plans. Whether you want to create policy that will promote health equity; be an innovator who thinks creatively about the relationship between mental health and the environment; understand how digital health and AI will change our world; or be a humanitarian health worker, our range of module choices lets you shape your programme to gain knowledge about topics that you care about and develop skills that will prepare you contribute to positive social impact in your future career.
  • Learn how to apply social science theories and methods – drawn from anthropology and sociology, epidemiology and political science, philosophy and economics – to urgent contemporary problems of health, disease and medicine.
  • Join one of the fastest growing fields of research (social science of global health and medicine) that will open exciting job opportunities in diverse careers at the intersection of research, policy, and practice.
  • This degree allows the flexibility to examine the social issues you care most about. This might be how racism and mental distress are related, why addiction-related deaths in the UK continue to rise year-on-year, or how gender-based violence limits access to healthcare globally.
  • Explore how healthcare systems around the world operate and policymaking in global, international, and national contexts works in practice not theory.

  • Requirements

    Entry Requirements

    Certificate of General Secondary Education will not be considered for direct entry - study our International Foundation Programme instead. Please note: students completing King's International Foundation programme will not be able to progress onto our Dentistry programmes.
