    About

Global Health Systems Master of Health Sciences (GHS MHSc) is a 1-year (three-terms, September 1- August 31) course-based professional master’s program jointly administered by the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry and the Faculty of Health Sciences. The degree provides comprehensive training for global health professions through eight months of course work (Sept – April) complimented by robust experiential learning (May – August), generating well-rounded students who can meet employers' needs. The curriculum is delivered by an interdisciplinary team of experts in global health, medicine, dentistry, social sciences, and business. It emphasizes critical thinking and systems-based learning to develop versatile, reflective learners, who are positionedto become leaders in global health.

Fall and Winter coursework includes core courses focused on fundamental principles in global health, management, and communication. Specialty courses (electives) provide additional competencies in specific areas of interest (e.g., infectious diseases, mental health, oral health, indigenous health). Experiential learning includs three weeks of structured learning in Uganda (International Field School) followed by an 8-week Internship working with one of our Ugandan partner organizations. At the end of the program, learners will have developed an in-depth understanding of global health systems and healthcare delivery in under-resourced settings. Learners will gain hands-on experience working in international and global health organizations, collaborating within interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams that prioritize equity, person-centered care, and sustainability.
