    About

    The Specialization in Global Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Social Change is designed for students in Business Administration and International Development Studies with an interest in global social change. Through this specialization, students will gain the knowledge and skills to better navigate the global economy and to appreciate the promise and limitations of social entrepreneurship and innovation in the Global South.  

    Required Courses:  

    • IDST/ADMN 1030H: Globalization, Transnational Corporations and International Development 
    • IDST/ADMN 2030H: Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Global South 

    A wide range of optional courses are available through this specialization drawing from Business Administration, International Development Studies, Economics and Political Studies. 

    Combine interests in business and international development and explore social innovation and entrepreneurship on a global scale, with the opportunity to complete a summer field course abroad.
    • Get first-hand career experience in the Global South through an intensive summer field course followed by a placement with an organisation or firm
    • Build your intercultural communication skills and in-depth knowledge of another society through cultural immersion
    • Build your understanding of the changing contours of the world economy with a critical focus on the international dimension in business
    • Develop a critical appreciation of the role of social innovation and entrepreneurship to address pressing issues of poverty, access to services, and climate change in the Global South

    Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate) with a minimum overall mark of 75%.

    You are encouraged to apply to Trent as early as possible as some programs have limited enrolment. 

    • Ontario secondary students will use the OUAC 101 application form at www.ouac.on.ca/101
    • If you are not currently registered as an Ontario secondary student, please apply using the OUAC 105 application and refer to the special application instructions below. www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/
    • Domestic students (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents) not currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, and wishing to only apply to Trent University, can do so through the Trent direct application If you are an international applicant or are applying to multiple universities/programs, please apply at www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/ 

    The OUAC website has many helpful resources such as Frequently Asked Questions, Video Tutorials and step-by-step guides.

    Access Codes:

    If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, guidance counsellors will provide you with access codes (school number, student number, temporary PIN) to access the OUAC site and application process.

    All other applicants will create user profiles on the OUAC site and will not require access codes.
