    About

    Overview

    Explore and redefine public health practice to promote health in light of contemporary knowledge.

    The courses are founded on a commitment to the advancement of quality and integrity in multidisciplinary practice, and principles of equity, inclusiveness, promoting health and disease prevention, accountability and community participation.

    The courses create opportunities for health professionals to examine workplace issues and to formulate new ways of addressing them and putting them into practice in order to reduce inequalities in health care access and health outcomes. The teaching and learning focuses primarily on helping health professionals change their practice in light of new insights. Topic assignments may be related to workplace issues and problems.

    Graduate Certificate

    Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Public Health must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent from an approved tertiary institution.

    Masters

    Applicants for the Master of Public Health must normally have completed a bachelor degree.

    Advanced entry (1.5 years)

    Applicants who have completed a qualification listed below may be eligible to complete a program of 54 units. Applicants must normally have completed:

    • a bachelor degree in a health-related field or
    • a bachelor degree and no less than two-years work experience in a public health-related field.

    Students will receive a maximum of 18 units credit for topics already undertaken in the Flinders University graduate certificate courses listed above. Students who also meet the criteria for advanced entry to the Master of Public Health may be eligible to complete the Masters award with 36 units of additional study.

    English Program Requirements

    If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers. This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.

    Obtain certified documents

    All academic documentation submitted to Flinders electronically must be certified. We also require certified copies of passports for applicants from some countries. Original documentation may be submitted by post or in person, but we are unable to guarantee return of these original documents.

    Persons authorised to certify documents within Australia include:

    • a Justice of the Peace (currently registered in Australia)
    • a barrister or solicitor
    • a police officer
    • an employee of Australia Post
    • a Flinders International staff member
    • an official Flinders University agent.

    Persons authorised to certify documents outside Australia include:

    • an Australian Embassy official or Australian Consular official
    • the registrar of the university that issued the transcript or parchment
    • a Flinders University staff member
    • an official Flinders University agent
    • a Notary Public (excluding India and Nepal).

    Flinders University will send you and/or your agent an email confirming we have received your application.
