The Graduate Certificate in Journalism (Advanced) is associated with the already established Master of Journalism. Admission criteria

In order to be considered for entry into this course, you must have:

An undergraduate degree in a cognate discipline with a weighted average mark of at least H2B (70%) in appropriate subjects or equivalent, OR
At least five years documented relevant professional work experience which demonstrates the capacity to undertake the course successfully.

Documented professional experience relevant to this course may include a portfolio of published journalism (text, video, audio, or photojournalism), or employment within a news or journalism organisation in a professional capacity.

Meeting the published entry requirements for this course does not guarantee selection.

Where our admission criteria includes a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and/or specific subject criteria, these are based on University of Melbourne grades and subjects. If you've studied elsewhere, we'll assess your relevant prior studies and equivalent grades. Your final WAM may be adjusted depending on your previous institution's accreditation, subject grading, and pass marks.
