    Finance – the study of activities associated with banking, capital markets, investments, money, credit and debt – is a continuously evolving and exciting field. Those with corporate finance and investment management skills are in demand across the globe.

    Offering considerable flexibility, the Graduate Certificate of Finance is ideal for those wishing to transition to the finance industry or those seeking a comprehensive understanding of finance to progress in their existing field. With four commencing dates each year, and four units of study, you’ll progress through structured learning activities facilitated by teachers with extensive industry experience. If your prior studies aren’t in the fields of business or finance, this course is a pathway to the Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and the Master of Applied Finance.

    In the granting of admission on the basis of professional work experience, a number of factors will be considered, including: the number of years of work experience; how current that experience is; its relevance to the finance industry and/or the applicant's prior degree; and the type of role(s) the applicant has undertaken. Professional work experience could include roles requiring technical or specialist expertise, or managerial/decision-making functions.

    English language requirements

    All Macquarie University applicants are required to provide evidence of English language proficiency. The standard of English required for entry is based on the IELTS Academic test. Other accepted evidence of English proficiency, including minimum scores on other English tests and qualifications, can be checked using the conversion tool.

    What if I don't meet the requirements?

    If you don’t meet the English requirements for your course, you may be issued an offer of study that includes an English preparation program at the Macquarie University English Language Centre (ELC). If you receive a packaged offer, you can apply for a single student visa covering both your English preparation program and your course.

    The length of your English program will depend on your current English level and the minimum English requirements for your course. Our admissions team will be able to recommend the number of weeks required when you submit your application.
