    • You will gain advanced knowledge, based on research practices, in at least one Information Technology (IT) discipline, and develop the ability to formulate best practice IT strategies and solutions.
    • As a graduate, you will have the specialist knowledge and skills required for IT-related middle-management positions, or you can continue onto a Master of Information Management.
    • Prepares you for careers including cyber security and networking, business analyst and computer systems.
    • Complete in 1 year full-time.
    • Choose from one of three majors:

      • Computer Science
      • Cyber Security and Networks.

    If you're looking to develop advanced knowledge in at least one information technology discipline, this is the course for you. Your design and problem-solving skills will allow you to critically analyse problem spaces, assess alternate IT solutions, and evaluate outcomes. Application of your IT knowledge and skills will result in considered and relevant IT solutions. You will graduate with well-developed professional attitudes, behaviours and judgements.

    Completing this course in just one year full-time, in one of three majors:

  • Business Analysis - design and problem-solving skills will allow you to critically analyse complex work environments, assess alternate information systems solutions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Computer Science - extends your understanding of computer programming beyond being a mere user of programming language to an appreciation of their design and implementation.
  • Cyber Security and Networks - you will develop abilities in the investigation and appraisal of complex cyber security and networking challenges. and the application of approaches.

    • A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline; or
    • A recognised diploma (or higher qualification) in information technology and at least two years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience in the information technology field; or
    • At least five years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience in the information technology field

    0.5 year program

    Minimum English language requirements

    We accept English language proficiency scores from the following tests undertaken in a secure test centre. Tests must be taken no more than 2 years prior to the QUT course commencement.

    Upon successful completion of this course, you will eligible for entry into IN20 - Master of Information Technology, with a reduced course duration.

    Course articulation

    QUT offers an pathway for international students who want to study a Master of Information Technology. The Graduate Certificate in Communication for Information Technology (IN17) is designed to help students acquire postgraduate level knowledge and skill in a specialist information technology discipline, while developing competency in English language and academic literacy. Upon successful completion of IN17, students are eligible for one semester of advanced standing towards the Master of Information Technology (see course description for details).
