    About

In the fields of science and engineering, such research has been responsible for discoveries that have transformed society and shaped the modern world – discoveries such as space exploration, nanotechnology and biomedical engineering. Today, ongoing research continues to innovate across an increasingly wide range of areas, including renewable energy, clean water technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics and sustainable development.

    The Graduate Diploma of Research in Science and Engineering offers a unique combination of advanced coursework and research training. You’ll undertake units specific to your discipline, including research foundations, frontiers, communications and advanced practice, as well as research methodology and analysis, project management, and reflective practice and professional development. You’ll also have opportunities to explore real-world research in action. The course is designed to extend your research skills for expeditious application in your current workplace, or to act as a foundation for further studies in a master degree or PhD.

    (full-time, or equivalent duration if available part-time)

    • A high level of English language proficiency
    • Completion of the MQ Graduate Certificate of Research
    • OR an AQF-7 or higher award (Bachelor’s degree) from a recognised institution in a related field of study or equivalent
      • Applicants with MQ qualifications from 2020 onwards (WAM): 65 overall, and 70 in the final year of the Bachelor degree or highest level of study
      • All other applicants (GPA): 4.38/7 overall, and 5.25/7 in the final year of the Bachelor degree or highest level of study

    Mathematics also requires a knowledge of algebra and mathematical analysis at a senior undergraduate level, and mathematical study in the last undergraduate year equivalent to at least four 3000-level Macquarie Mathematics units.

    Recognition of prior learning
