    About

    Our graphic and digital design degree takes a practical and theoretical approach to design to prepare you for careers in the creative industries.

    On our graphic and digital design degree, you will study topics such as typography and graphic design, branding and advertising, fine art, photography, data visualisation and the moving image. Technical workshops and other practical elements of the course will boost your creativity and help you master various aspects of design technology.

    Popular career options for our graphic and digital design graduates include roles in creative agencies, particularly those specialising in print, publishing, packaging, branding and interaction design, as well as those focused on animation and the moving image.

    Academic entry requirements

    Applicants who have completed the national schooling system typically require foundation, please refer to UGIC.

    For some courses, you will need to have studied relevant subjects at school/college to be eligible. Our admissions team will determine this once you apply.

    Careers and placements

    Will I have a work placement?

    This course is available in in sandwich mode, which means you can take a year to work in industry between your second and final years of study. Sandwich placements are relevant to your degree subject and are paid roles. It is the very best way of preparing you for successfully finding a job quickly when you graduate.

    We also have two dedicated modules that address professional practices, connection and exposure to industry, establishing networks, and development of design portfolios and materials for seeking professional placements and employment.

    In addition, in Year 2, students respond to a series of live industry briefs and attend awards shows - last year we had 6 overall winners for international design competitions. We take Year 3s to participate at D&AD New Blood where they showcase their work to peers, industry professionals and public.

    How long is my placement?

    Sandwich placements last for between 9-13 months. Work-based learning module placements are normally one day a week for either one or two terms depending on the number of credits available from the module.

    What are the financial arrangements?

    Sandwich placements are paid roles whereas work-based learning module placements are normally unpaid.

    What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

    You could pursue careers in fields related to digital and graphic design. Your skills will be well-suited to agencies specialising in print, publishing, packaging, branding, and interaction design, advertising agencies, or agencies specialising in animation.

    You could also explore careers involving web and mobile app design, creative direction and management, editorial design, visual communication and signage.

    Are internships available?

    Students are encouraged to take up Summer internships during the Summer holidays, though it is up to the student to find them. Support is available to students from the Employability and Careers Service when applying for placements and internships.

    Do you provide employability services?

    Employability activities take place all the time at Greenwich and students are encouraged to take part in as many opportunities as possible. The central Employability and Careers Service provides support for students preparing to apply for placements and graduate roles, such as CV clinics, mock interviews and employability skills workshops. In addition, your School has a dedicated Employability Officer who will be organising work-related activities throughout the year which will help you to build you industry knowledge and networks.
