    About

    This single module can count towards your CPD and is a springboard to further study. You'll take part in self-assessment, evaluation and reflection and learn vital research and computing skills that will help you move forward in your career and

    This course consists of a single 20 credit module, 'Professional Development in Health and Social Care' and is the first step to ensuring you have the transferable skills needed to move forward in your role as a health and social care professional.

    Our certificate of Credit in Health and Social Care Studies aims to widen the participation of Health and Social Care courses to practitioners who may not have the level of experience of academic study that is required for UK degrees. It is ideal for those who are looking to take the next step in health and social care, return to study or for those who may need to refresh their academic skills to go onto acquire the relevant qualifications within their role. 

    Health and social care organisations and professionals rely on particular research methods and techniques in order to cope with the changing landscape. Understanding and applying evidence is now an essential skill of health and social care practice and this module aims to develop your skills for research, including identifying a research question, analysing information, reviewing literature, collecting and analysing data and presenting the main findings in professional and concise manner, using appropriate technology.

    NMC revalidation and CPD

    If you are going through NMC Revalidation this year you'll also be aware that you need to complete 35 hours of continuous professional development (CPD) which needs to include 20 hours of participatory learning. Our online course counts as participatory learning and will help you to meet the requirements for re-registration. It is an ideal way to top-up your academic skills in theory, digital literacy, critical thinking and reflection, gaining 20 university credits that will count towards your CPD and future studies. It will also enable you to become an effective practitioner in today's complex health and social care environment through undertaking a range of experiential exercises, self-assessment techniques; organisational analysis and structured discussion.

    Entry Requirements

    • Shahadat Al-Thanawaya Al-Aama
    • Students with an overall score of 60% would usually be eligible for the International Foundation Year
    • UKVI IELTS 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in all components (CEFR B1) is also required
    • If you are studying and completing any internationally recognised qualification such as A-levels; International Baccalaureate (IB) or the American Curricula from the International Schools within Jordan, then you can begin from the first year of a Bachelors degree. Please see individual course pages for specific entry requirements
    • If you have completed a recognised international foundation programme with good grades
    • Advanced entry to year 2 or 3 may be possible. You will need to supply detailed information including courses taken, grades achieved, syllabus and a grading guide

    Career

    Whilst undertaking this programme you will already be employed in a variety of health and social care settings. This programme will support you to progress potentially into supervisory or management positions.

    It will also help to prepare you for further study on our health and social care online programmes, such as Health and Social Care Diploma of Higher Education, BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Top-up) and BSc (Hons) Integrative Health and Social Care (Top-up).

    How to Apply

    Before you begin your application make sure you have:

    • Your qualification details including grades and dates taken. You will have the opportunity to upload scanned copies of your qualification certificates/transcripts in the application. If you have no formal qualifications, you can also state this in your application
    • A scanned copy of your passport or other official photographic ID e.g. photo driving licence. This will help us verify your application to study with us. If you do not have any photo ID, we will accept a scanned copy of your birth certificate. International applicants can only provide a copy of their passport for visa assessment purposes
    • Your work experience (optional). You can upload a CV into your application or provide the company names and addresses of up to three of your employers
    • A personal statement showing your interest for the course/subject. This is a mandatory requirement and you will be able to upload it into your application. You may want to include your reasons for applying for the course, your experience in the field, how you feel you would benefit from studying and relevant information about your previous studies. You could also tell us about your non-academic experiences such as hobbies, interests, participation in any clubs, societies or voluntary work
    • A relevant reference for the course you have applied for. The reference should be in written format and supplied on company-headed paper, signed and dated from either a manager, supervisor, tutor or teacher
    • If you need to supply two references, this usually means you need to provide one academic reference from any recent study and one employer reference
