    About

    Understanding mental and physical health is complex. Through this new program, you will gain a multidisciplinary understanding of the aspects that influence human behaviour and patterns of health, morbidity, and mortality. You will investigate the complex issues around attempting to change lifestyle and actions through evidence-based practices, and understand the biopsychosocial perspective of well-being.

     

    Benefit from Trent's unique interdisciplinary approach to issues relating to our health and behaviour as you work and learn alongside leading faculty in Psychology, Biology, Kinesiology, Sociology, and the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing.
    • Put theory into practice with a 12-week placement in your fourth year, where you'll engage in real-life application of health promotion in various community settings such as public health, clinics, agencies, and schools
    • Sharpen your research and communication skills through focused coursework, you can even choose to complete a research thesis on a health topic of interest

    Social workers help individuals, couples, families, groups, communities and organizations develop the skills and resources they need to enhance social functioning and provide counselling, therapy and referral to other supportive social services. Social workers also respond to other social needs and issues such as unemployment, racism and poverty. They are employed by hospitals, school boards, social service agencies, child welfare organizations, correctional facilities, community agencies, employee assistance programs and Aboriginal band councils, or they may work in private practice.

    Access Codes:

    If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, guidance counsellors will provide you with access codes (school number, student number, temporary PIN) to access the OUAC site and application process.

    All other applicants will create user profiles on the OUAC site and will not require access codes.
