    About

    This Higher National Diploma (HND) course has been designed to provide students with the broad range of knowledge, understanding and skills required to work in a health and/or social care environment. You will gain a valuable insight into the diversity of the healthcare sector and the importance of collaboration and excellent communication at all levels. It is suitable for those currently employed in relevant sectors and seeking higher-level qualifications to further develop their career. About the course You’ll be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of the basic concepts, values and principles of healthcare practice, and the necessary skills to perform effectively in a variety of settings within the healthcare sector. The course provides the opportunity to develop transferable skills such as effective team-working, being adaptable and flexible, whilst developing problem-solving skills. HND modules include: • Innovation and Improvement through Action Research • Reflective Approaches in Implementing Person-centred Practice • Supporting Team and Partnership Working across Health & Social Care Services • Supporting Individuals through Significant Life Events • Care Planning Processes in Healthcare Practice • Recognising and Meeting the Needs of People with Long-term Health Conditions • Complementary Therapies in Healthcare Practice During the HND year a further 225 hours of work placement in a health and/or social care setting providing direct care to service users is required. Assessment Units are assessed via a range of internally set and assessed assignments including reports, presentations, portfolios using a range of research, investigation, problem-solving, and portfolio-based methods. Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Your career and progression Upon successful completion you could go into employment or progress onto a range of relevant health and social care-related top-up degree courses, such as Health and Social Care, Health Studies, Adult Nursing, Public Health or Health Promotion.
