Higher Certificate in Building Engineering

About

The Engineers Ireland fully accredited programme meets the academic requirements for the status of Higher Certificate (Level 6) in Building Engineering. The course modules are delivered with similar part-time engineering disciplines, for the quantitate modules, and with the whole time Building Engineering equivalents for the applied modules. Upon successful completion of the Higher Level Certificate, students can opt to do an additional two years part-time for an Ordinary Degree in Building Engineering (Level 7) by entering Year 1 of the (Level 7) Ordinary Degree programme.

This course is particularly aimed for part-time students who have knowledge of the Building Engineering industry or who wish to up/re-skill in the industry. Qualifying students will be assessed, during the application process for suitability on the course.

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Leaving Certificate or equivalent with passes in Mathematics and English or Irish and at least three other subjects. Students would also be normally employed in the Building Engineering or related discipline before commencing the course.
Mature Applicants: Mature students will be considered on an individual basis and is subject to receipt of a CV and relevant work experience.

Career

The Building Engineer works closely with other engineering disciplines such as architects, structural engineers and quantity surveyors on construction projects. The range of services required in buildings is continuously expanding offering graduates challenging and rewarding careers within the industry from the design, construction, manufacturing, sales, facilities and operational roles.
